CEP 810: Teaching for Understanding with TechnologyFALL 2017
Instructors: Mary Wever and Nicole Zumpano |
This was my first course in the educational technology program. I explored the differences between understanding and learning and the importance of prior knowledge.

CEP 811: Adapting Innovative Technology to EducationFALL 2017
Instructors: Candace Marcotte and Melissa White |
This was such a fun course. Most of the content was based on learning to become a maker in the classroom and learning how to get creative and adapt different technology to best suit my needs and the needs of my students. I learned about several technologies and I have been able to continue to make adaptations to make educational and engaging experiences in my classroom.

CEP 812: Applying Educational Technology to PracticeSPRING 2018
Instructor: Alison Keller and Andrew Steinman |
After learning about well-structured problems, ill-structured problems, wicked problems and the questioning process, a think tank including myself and fellow Michigan State University students were tasked with researching and solving a wicked problem in education. We chose to come up with solutions for using failure as a learning mode and encouraging teachers, parents, and students to see failure as an important part of the learning process.

CEP 800: Learning in School and Other SettingsSPRING 2018
Instructor: Hannah Klautke |
This course was all about how the environment can effect a students learning. The ideas that had the most impact on me throughout the course were the social aspects of learning, most effective ways to present material, and modeling. This course reminded me that students need to see adults and others modeling time management, organization, and other key skills in order to be successful independent learners.
|
CEP 820: Teaching Students OnlineSUMMER 2018
Instructors: Cui Cheng and Anne Heintz |
The focus of this course was to work with a learning management system (LMS) and design a unit within that system that was engaging for students. I chose to work with Schoology since that was the LMS that my district was adopting the next Fall. I had a great time learning how to organize and implement online learning and was able to use my unit with my 7th graders in the next school year.

CEP 822: Approaches to Educational ResearchSUMMER 2018
Instructors: Cui Cheng, Swati Mehta, and E. David Wong |
This course was about research in education and reminded me of the importance of seeking out education research to improve my practice. I had the chance to choose a topic that was relevant to my teaching and spend some time researching that topic and sharing my research with my colleagues.
|
CEP 815: Technology and LeadershipFALL 2018
Instructors: Candace Marcotte and Kyle Shack |
This was one of my most challenging courses because it really forced my out of my comfort zone and made me analyze the purpose of my actions and role as a leader. I defined different types of leaders, how to communicate as a leader, and planned professional development sessions for my colleagues.

CEP 816: Technology and Learning Across the CurriculumFALL 2018
Instructors: Sarah Galvin and William Marsland |
This course had a focus on how technology can be used effectively in the classroom for a variety of learners. Concepts such as cognitive load, formative assessment, and differentiation were the highlights from this course. I was able to design several different lessons and a final dream project that incorporated all of the big ideas in the form of a hands on lesson.

TE 846: Accommodating Differences in Literacy LearnersSPRING 2019
Instructor: Shannon Prince |
In this course, I learned how to incorporate more effective and enriching literacy activities in secondary science. The culminating project was a field experience working one-on-one with a student providing literacy instruction through science content. I have learned great tools and techniques for incorporating literacy practice in my science curriculum.
|
CEP 807: Capstone Portfolio CourseworkSPRING 2019
Instructors: Matthew Koehler, Sarah Keenan-Lechel, Aric Gaunt, and Sukanya Moudgalya |
This was my final course in the MAET program. This course has been a great opportunity to not only see how far I have come in this program, but also prepare myself for the future with my new degree and knowledge.
